Big School Ready

As AY 2016-17 will be Z's final year at preschool, my husband and I have been scouting the metro for the perfect big school. I am frightened that Z will undergo a huge transition as he's from a progressive, small class school. In ISYC, there's only 10 students under two teachers for each class.

Everybody knows who's who in the school and frankly, that is one of the reasons why I enrolled my son there. It was like a family where kids can learn together and be protected from bullies. But, the inevitable has to happen and I have a year and two months to figure out where we will send our little one.

As a product of an all-girls school, I am leaning towards an exclusive all-boys school for Z. My husband is slightly opposed to the idea as he thinks it is best to send Z in a school where he can interact with both genders. We are still debating on the PROs and CONs of exclusive versus co-ed schools so I'll deal with that later.

So far, we came up with six schools that we think would suit our son's needs. Here is our list:

ALL-BOYS SCHOOLS

Ateneo de Manila Grade School
Marist School of Marikina
PAREF Northfield School for Boys

CO-ED SCHOOLS

Manila Waldorf School
UP Integrated School
Ingenium School

We plan on visiting all these schools before we actually let Z take the entrance exams because we believe it will still depend on how Z will react to the school and if he'll like the environment. For the mean time, I will update this page on a regular basis once I get more information about the schools I have mentioned above.

Wish us luck, mommies! Choosing the right big school is really difficult and tricky because our child's future depends on it. But, whichever school Z ends up with, my only wish is he'll love it and enjoy his stay there.
