Mi Familia

Welcome to The Working Momma Diaries, working moms (and other readers)!

First of all, let me do a quick introduction of the characters you will often read about on this space. Well, they are mainly my family and friends, and some, if God forbids, my co-workers, co-writers, and co-anything under the sun!

MOMMY L (Mymy)

Let's start of with yours truly. I am a 30-something registered nutritionist-dietitian turned underwriter turned supervising editor slash freelance writer. I have ten years of experience working in a corporate setting before deciding to work from home last year due to health reasons.

Yes, you read that right. My journey as a WAHM (work-at-home mom) began when I was rushed to the emergency room of Marikina Valley Medical Center last June 2015 due to fatigue, stress, and high blood pressure. As it turns out, I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), hypertension, and hyperglycemia --- not a great combination because it can certainly cause an early death.

But, instead of wallowing my days in sorrow, I have decided to take it as an opportunity to discover what the world has to offer and that's when I discovered online writing. So now, I am a hands-on mother to my four-year-old son while doing what I like best and at the same time, trying to heal my body.

Sometimes my condition still bothers me especially when I was advised by my cardiologist that it is still unsafe to get pregnant again, but at the end of the day, I am still thankful that I get to wake up everyday and be with the people I love best.

Daddy R (Dydy)

Daddy R is my husband. He's an IT professional and occasionally travels abroad for business. He's older than me but mainly acts like a young kid so I sometimes feel that I am taking care of two kids instead of just one. LOL!

He is into sports and not to sound like a bragging wife but he excels in EVERY sports there is in the world. He's often selected as the team captain of their bowling team (on his first game!) and often picked as the starting five during their basketball games. He used to play table tennis and "sipa" when he was younger and oh boy, when you see him play, you'll know what I meant by "he excels in EVERY sports."

Besides being sporty, Daddy R is the funniest man I've ever met and that is one of the reasons why I fell in love with him. His sense of humor may sound sarcastic to some but it's the comic relief everyone can depend on when the situation gets awkward. My family and friends adore him dearly.

Lastly, I have a secret to tell you all about Daddy R --- he is often mistaken for the Filipino singer Mark Bautista! I'm not really sure why they think that because my goodness, he can't sing a tune to save his life. Maybe it's his eyes or the way he smiles; you can be the judge.

BIG BOY Z (Baby Z)

Big Boy Z is our pride and joy. He's four years old and will be turning Kinder this coming 2016-17 school year in ISYC. It is his last year in preschool and to be honest, I can help but shed a few tears because I can't believe our Baby Z is already growing up (too fast, in my opinion!)

He is a car enthusiast and I've known about it ever since he was still in my tummy. You see, whenever Daddy R and I were watching the F1 race, Baby Z would kick and swim around my tummy like a true race fan!

During his Moving Up Ceremony last March 2016, he said that he wants to be a race car driver when he grows up. What more, his favorite Disney character is none other than Lightning McQueen from the movie "Cars." I think his car collection (Hot Wheels, Disney Cars, etc) has already outgrown my Hello Kitty collection.

Anyway, these three are the characters you will basically read about on my blog. I hope you'll be able to enjoy the posts here and in case you need to contact me, just shoot me an email and I'll gladly respond.

Seize the day!
