Casa Italia Cafe Review

It was my mother's birthday last May 10th and as I was not able to visit her last Mother's Day because of work, my siblings and I have decided to do a double celebration. It was nothing fancy; we heard mass together at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu (where I got married) then we took her out to lunch.

Since my mom is a fan of Italian cuisine, we went to the newly opened Casa Italia Café at SM North Edsa. It was homey and rustic little hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant which serves Italian food, coffee and gelato.

Their pasta dishes were delicious and firm to the bite. I ordered the Zesty Italian Sausage, it was a creamy pomodoro pasta dish covered in marinara sauce with bits of Italian sausage. This was truly satisfying. My mom ordered the pesto and said it was also delicious. My brother had the lasagna and his verdict was "not bad."

We paid a total of Php 1,200 for four. The price was reasonable though we hope they can offer better bread next time. Service was also so-so because we had to ask thrice before Z had his mango slush. He didn't like it because it tasted like an apple-mango variant instead of the usual mango taste.

Anyway, we were not able to try the gelato because we went to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert.

Final Verdict

We will comeback for the Zesty Italian sausage and to try the gelato. Best for alone time and brunch with a special friend. Not recommended as a date place though.
