I have heard about this so-called "beauty oil" from many forums and Facebook groups but I've never actually tried it personally. I was still hesitant and doubtful as I thought it was synthetic and unnatural.
I can't believe how wrong I was.
According to Argan Oil World, this oil is from the argan trees which are usually grown in Morocco. It has many nutrients such as vitamin E and fatty acids. This is possibly the reason why it is beneficial to the hair, skin, and face as these specific nutrients are known to eradicate signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, and dryness.
What are the uses of argan oil?
Rhoda told me that it can help smoothen rough skin and can also be used as a moisturizer or toner. Besides these wonderful beauty uses, Mind Body Green recommends the following:
- exfoliant for the lips, face, neck, and other parts of the body
- conditioner, frizz tamer for unruly hair
- cuticle, nail softener
- bath and body oil
- face and tired eye mask
What are the benefits of argan oil?
As the argan oil is often used for the skin and face due to its vitamin E and fatty acid component, it is beneficial mostly as a beauty regimen. Rhoda said that as it is non-greasy and will not cause any breakouts, it is the world's best and safest moisturizer.
Furthermore, Marie Claire reported that besides being a "liquid gold" for the skin, it can also give the following benefits:
- protect the skin from damaging effects of free radicals from air pollution, UV rays, and other environmental stressors
- neutralize oily skin as it can control oil production
- unclogs pores, making it safe to use for people with sensitive skin
- act as an anti-aging serum
- cheaper than other beauty products as it can be used as a moisturizer and toner
Of course, after reading all these argan oil uses and benefits, I just had to get me one. Fortunately, Nail-A-Holics sells argan oil and it's called "Morocco Argan Oil."
Unfortunately, based on Aimee Guerrero's Fashion & Beauty of an Engineer blog, it should only list 100% Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil as its ingredient. Other than this, it is not PURE argan oil. Well, this argan oil that I got from Nail-A-Holics only costs Php 650 and I heard pure argan oil costs more than that.
The best one out in the market is Josie Maran but it costs USD 48 (Php 2400) for 50 mL. Well, if it's worth the price, maybe I'll buy one as soon as it becomes available on Sephora PH. For now, let's see how this one works for me.
